Letter from the President of OWIT-South Florida

Dear Friend,

Welcome to the website for the South Florida Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-South Florida)! Our chapter’s hope is that you will find our site interesting and it will encourage you to join OWIT-South Florida today and begin enjoying being a part of this community of professional and committed women.

As one of forty chapters worldwide, the mission of OWIT-South Florida is to enhance the status of women in the field of international trade and commerce. Our chapter reaches out to our members and our community through educational, cultural, and networking events once a month.  At these events, a variety of experts provide insight into timely business, government, and social issues.  At the same time, our events provide a unique forum for our members to meet and establish relationships with other professionals in the community.  Please email our administrator, Pat McLeod at patricia.mcleod52@gmail.com  and request to be added to our distribution list so that you are notified of upcoming events.

Each November, we host the International Business Women of the Year (IBWOY) Awards, where female leaders in South Florida are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community. The proceeds of this event are typically used to award scholarships to young women enrolled in international business programs at local universities.  In 2009, we instead decided to partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and raised over $4,000 for the noteworthy cause.
